Dropship Hair Extensions
For those of you not in the know, dropshipping is a retail fulfillment method where a store or business doesn’t have to keep the products in stock. This means, as a retailer, you don’t have to have any products on the premises – in fact, you never need stock any inventory at all. This naturally makes it a very viable option for the small, home-based online business, as well as for big stores that want to cut down on inventory holding.
In early days, and I’m not sure if this terminology is still used, this used to be called ‘Just-in-Time (JIT)’ where businesses would just order what was needed, and so cut the risks of holding large amounts of inventory which had to move. I know the practice is still firmly in place, even perhaps more so than it was some 20 years ago with large online retail giants such as Amazon in place.
When it comes to the dropshipping of virgin hair marketing extensions, is this common and does it provide for Best Practice? It appears, from a quick-track survey of the marketplace, that this is very much a well-used practice. In fact, it appears to be booming.
There are many sites available online. The trick is to find one that is reputable. As with many services in the marketplace, many claims to be the ‘best’, and in practice is anything but, and you may have to do a trial-and-error dropshipping to see if the supplier involved lives up to your expectations. Alternatively, look for referrals. Go to blogs and Facebook, and see who’s talking about what. This is one way of instant verification.
If you’re looking to start a home business, and these days that can be a very viable option to the whole commute and 9-to-5 saga, the first you must do is get a website that is professionally designed and will have your dropship products that you want to sell. You must install a credit card (you’ll need an SSL certificate) or PayPal processing option for you would-be clients. Test that it works properly by getting a friend to pay in a couple of dollars and see if everything works the way it should. This is a very important point. I know of some budding entrepreneurs who didn’t pay enough attention to the transaction end and ended up losing money and reputation. Not the way to go!
Make sure you have a good supply of contacts who are going to be involved with the dropship market virgin hair brand. These wholesalers or suppliers are going to be an important part of your business. So vital that without them you wouldn’t have a business! You must, therefore, chose wisely. Speak to friends who have it all on the grapevine, and you’re sure to be pointed in the right direction.
Back to your website.
This is your portal to success and you must ensure that it all looks very glitzy and glamorous. There is nothing more off-putting than an ‘ugly’ or dated site. I personally would take one look and be gone as fast as possible. With the hair extensions, make sure that each one has its own terrific pictures that show them off in a way that will get buyers reaching for their cards. If you can, spend most of your marketing budget (yes, you must have one, even if it’s $100) here. If possible, get models (or friends) to show off the extensions. What I personally find very off-putting is an extension just lying on a table, or even on a wig stand. You know how fabulous they look…just get them onto real people and you’ll have a winning start.
You also need descriptions of the extensions.
It would pay you well to get a copywriter or journalist to write these for you. Everyone assumes they can write until it comes to writing! A badly written piece will also put people off. Nothing about your website must appear amateurish or ‘make-do’. People will tell you it needs a ‘make-over’! Each extension must be discussed, the length must be accurate and above all, make sure you are charging correctly. I know this sounds a bit weird, but many people under-charge (and do themselves in) or overcharge themselves right out of the market! Get someone who is business-savvy on your side and you’ll get much-needed help there.
Each site claims to have all the advantages of using dropshipping for hair extensions, but as I said previously, don’t take anything at face value. Check, check, and check again. Some suppliers will also offer dropshipping membership, which is, I believe, a sure way to know that you’re onto the right thing. Many of the suppliers also offer to do your website hosting – which is part of the membership deal. You can really find this helpful, especially if you’re new to the website thing, but also ensure you don’t get taken for a ride.
